Separating and Compacting Tinned Food

Destruction of returned goods and faulty products from the food industry often causes a storage problem. But by installing a RUNI screw compactor, it is possible to save space and efficiently manage handling, by separating and compacting the tinned food immediately when the needs emerge. Furthermore, the compacted cans can be sold for recycling. 100% destruction ensures that the product does not re-enter the market.

Screw Compactor Solution for Tinned Food

The RUNI screw compactor compacts and separates discarded cans continuously. The liquid or partly liquid content is pressed out without making the surroundings dirty. The liquid can be diverted into a tank and sold to energy production companies or animal feed manufacturers, while the aluminum packaging is pushed out and collected in a container. The machines are equipped with sensors for automatic start and stop functions. Feeding the screw compactor can be done via a conveyor belt or manually. The content must be liquid or partly liquid. Both matrix and collection tray are made of stainless steel (AISI316) to withstand the low pH many fluids have.

Size and Capacity of Screw Compactor

The SK370 model for dewatering and separating tinned food has a capacity of approx. 20,000 pcs 0,33 l cans per hour. The maximum diameter of the cans is 230 mm, corresponding to a 10 litres bucket. After compaction, the aluminium cans achieve a density of approx. 400kg/m3

RUNI also has a solution for separating and compacting very large metal and plastic buckets and drums with a diameter of up to 600mm.
